NBA Unveiled 30 Teams In-Season Tournament Courts 2023-2024
In its inaugural year, the NBA is making a concerted effort to distinguish and highlight the significance of the In-Season Tournament. As the group games kick off this weekend, the league has employed a highly effective Heist advertising campaign, prominently featured during most game broadcasts, to ramp up fan enthusiasm. However, a notable challenge lies in elevating the perceived importance of these tournament games, which, in essence, are regular season matches adorned with a tournament designation.
For the upcoming tournament starting this Friday and running through December 9, all 30 NBA teams will feature solid-color courts in their home arenas. These courts will be entirely painted, with no visible woodgrain, creating a distinctive look.
The NBA initially unveiled these court designs to ESPN, one of its broadcast partners, on Monday, before making the list publicly available. However, the league has not disclosed the exact cost of this project.
The court designs share a common theme, featuring the NBA Cup, which represents the tournament's trophy, displayed prominently at midcourt and in the lanes. In addition, there is a 16-foot-wide runway in a contrasting color down the center of the floor and team names on the baseline.
This tournament will mark the first occasion for teams like Boston, Chicago, the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland, and New Orleans to play on an alternate home court, adding to the uniqueness and appeal of the competition.
